Davide Cristofaro’s work, from 2 April until 15 May, will be exhibited together with works by other artists from Puglia in a renowned art gallery in Bangkok, Thailand.
He is one of our own creative, multifaceted artists, able to find his way across various artistic paths: he is a decorator, a fashion expert, a fashion designer illustrator, a painter capable of pairing refined silks with canvases. He has acquired his skills over time and through the application of the finest expressions of chromatic and compositional harmony.
From the typical images of fresh-faced girls of the ’60s, the shy, introverted girls next door, all church and family and therefore submissive, compliant, full of hang-ups, suited to guaranteeing stable and lasting marriages, he has recently moved on to other images that instead evoke the figure of women who are smiling, open, free, self-driven, independent, enterprising, heavily made up, sophisticated, who love travelling and not having relationships that are lasting or imposed by others, and who are more intent on building a career than on starting a family, only to change their minds should they truly meet a soulmate who is not fragile but shares identical interests.
In a recent interview Davide stated that he would very much like to work abroad but also hopes to open a boutique in Martina Franca so as to keep with our town the bond that has held him tightly since childhood.
This statement certainly does him credit, and so we express our certainty that he, as a young man “with a sweet smile and dreamy eyes” and even more so as a highly creative artist, painter and haute couture fashion designer, with firm roots in our past and a deep love for Martina, will be perfectly able, together with other young people endowed with brilliant ideas, to shed new light on the Martina Franca garment-making industry too, which, undeservedly, despite its glorious history, seems ever more shrouded in oblivion.
