Art becomes fashion: our first e-commerce site and our first collections

In late January 2017 our first posts announced the website: a silk flying over the runway, “when art becomes fashion”, and then “Coming soon…”.

On 5 February 2017 davidecristofaro.com opened its doors: “Welcome. Art becomes style, art becomes fashion. Come and discover the universe of Davide Cristofaro.”

Brand collection

The first collection carried the brand in every detail: black and gold scarves, the tie, the ribbon bearing the name, the black box. The Black Rose scarf was “the essence of the black rose”, and the packaging, “refined and of great value also for the world of gifts”, was already part of the project.

Alongside the scarves, Ghaliya was born. On 15 February, the first preliminary draft of a bag, “conceived from a dream”; two days later the finished bag, a “decadent romance”; on 19 February the “Ghaliya” illustration, our vision of fashion and art. Today Ghaliya is also a work in our Art catalogue.

Emotions

“Emotions in the heart of a dreamer”: in late February, scarves folded into the shape of a heart. Among them The First Kiss, with two angels kissing: “Let our hearts stop and be as one together.”

Artwork collection

“Unique and precious as a piece of art”: in March, silks rolled up among roots and stones, each with its own name and its own line. Juke Box, because “the earth has music for those who listen”; Rhombus, “my life as a rhombus”; Breathing Dragon, “take a breath and be strong”.

Five richly coloured rolled scarves arranged around a wooden root, with dry branches, stones and dried flowers

In April came Dragon: “wisdom, power and fortune”. “If the sky could dream, it would dream of dragons.”

Fluidity

Vortex, “nature’s vortex”, and in August Deep Blue, “the source of life”: secrets and colours hidden at the bottom of the sea.

Etno Chic

In September, Palm Beach, born on the drawing table: “Design, create, produce. The real art of Italian handmade.”

In October, Liberty: “art as a philosophy of life”.

A new beginning

Those first collections paved the way. The following year, in 2018, the Artwork collection brought the painted faces of Morena, Rosita, Fanny and Laure onto silk. The idea has stayed the same as on 5 February 2017: art becomes style, art becomes fashion.
