From 20 to 25 January 2015 the Centro Servizi per la Moda in Piazza d’Angiò, Martina Franca, hosted the fifth edition of the Festival dell’Immagine, the art and poetry exhibition and competition of the Un’altra Martina association, chaired by Tonio Cantore. The theme was “Paesaggi Pugliesi”, landscapes of Puglia: 157 works in competition, 310 on show, and 66 poets in the “Sinfonie Poetiche” contest.

Davide took part with work no. 31, Castel del Monte and the Court Lady: mixed media on canvas, 70×90. The castle of Frederick II at sunset and, in front of it, a young woman with a crown of prickly pear flowers, an olive branch and ears of wheat.
“Castel del Monte, enigmatic and fascinating, has always hidden its mystery from my curious eyes. I wanted to illustrate the ‘Paesaggi Pugliesi’ in a magical, folkloric light, setting it all in a medieval context but in a contemporary key.”

On Tuesday 20 January, the first day, the works ran along the panels above the red drape, and the first visitors paused in front of the landscapes.

During the week many friends and the family came to see him: Antonio, his brother Giuseppe and his sisters Morena and Vanessa.

On Sunday 25 January the closing evening filled the hall. The jury, chaired by Franco Punzi, president of the Fondazione Paolo Grassi, with Antonio Santoro, Lorena Cossa and Cira Catucci, gave the awards category by category; the audience, asked to vote for its favourite work, chose Davide’s Court Lady. On stage Tonio Cantore presented Davide with the Audience Award.

The certificate bears the signatures of the mayor Franco Ancona, Franco Punzi and Tonio Cantore; with the certificate came the festival trophy.

On Tuesday 27 January a Martina Franca newspaper reported on the winners’ parade.
“The fifth edition of the ‘Festival dell’immagine’, an art and poetry exhibition and competition organised by the ‘Un’altra Martina’ association at the Centro Servizi in Martina Franca, ended on Sunday evening.”
