From 2 to 8 March 2013 the S9 Galleri in Oslo hosts “Oslo 2013”, an international group exhibition of contemporary art. It was born from a collaboration between the Galleri Quirinus in Köping and Maecenas Italy Art, and is coordinated and curated by gallerist Riccardo Baldelli. The aim is to bring contemporary artists from several countries into dialogue with the public and collectors of Northern Europe.
Among the Italians is Davide, with two works that show the two sides of his painting: The Circus and Genesi Solare. A month earlier, The Circus had been in Sweden, in Köping.
The Circus and Genesi Solare
The Circus, a canvas from 2011, is worked entirely in raised pointillism. In the foreground a clown smiles, his face rendered with meticulous realism, with the top hat, the tailcoat with gold trimmings, the glittering green gloves and the conductor’s baton. Behind him is a geometric play in the colours of the Italian flag and the tones of the sun, beneath a decorated sign bearing the title of the work. The density of the dots creates a vibration that holds the gaze.

Genesi Solare is an abstract painting on silk, born from the maison’s Fluidity collection, made of light and primordial force. Saturated yellows, bright oranges and amber veins spread out in almost organic textures, like the birth of matter or the radiance of the sun. In Oslo a single panel is on show, in a gilded frame: the warmth of the Mediterranean set against the Norwegian winter.

The exhibition
On Saturday 2 March the exhibition opens to the public and runs until Friday 8 March. Riccardo Baldelli and the gallerist of the S9 Galleri pose beside Genesi Solare.

Davide receives the certificate of participation signed by Riccardo Baldelli for Maecenas Italy Art. The two works are listed on it as Le Cirque and Fluidity, the name of the collection from which Genesi Solare is born.
