In the heart of the Marais, at 13 rue de Thorigny, the Galerie Thuillier, an international gallery of contemporary art, hosts the international group exhibition “Paris 2015” from 17 to 26 March 2015. It is organised together with the gallery by the Swedish cultural agency Interartex, the same agency behind the Galleri Quirinus in Köping: an overview of the languages of contemporary art that brings established and emerging artists from very different geographical and cultural backgrounds under one roof.

The opening, on Tuesday 17 March at 6 pm, draws visitors and art lovers out onto the pavement and turns into a celebration of cultures meeting; a violinist plays among the works. More than fifty artists are on show, most of them from Northern Europe, alongside the sensibilities and visual traditions of the Mediterranean.

The Italian presence
In this multicultural setting Davide takes part with Morena “Warm Your Heart with Our Dreams”, mixed media on canvas from 2012, 80×80.
It is a female portrait with an intimate, dreamy expression, in which the figure converses with ornamental backgrounds, fluid geometries and gilded fields that evoke an almost sacred dimension. Morena wears a green and yellow scarf from the maison’s Fluidity collection, painted on the canvas as crumpled silk; the colour ranges from deep greens to enveloping reds, with meticulous care in the pendants and the softness of the drapery. Among so many Scandinavian names, Davide’s painting keeps its Italian roots and speaks to a cosmopolitan audience.

A bridge between Scandinavia and France
More than a showcase, “Paris 2015” is a bridge: Swedish, Scandinavian, Italian and other artists share spaces, visions and different languages in Paris. Among them is Rosy Muntoni, with her Art Group: together with Riccardo Baldelli, she is the one who sought out the artists for the exhibition. Rosy stops beside Morena.

Also in the room are Riccardo Baldelli and Denis Cornet, the long-standing director and gallerist of the Galerie Thuillier; on the counter, the artists’ catalogues and cards.

Special thanks
Special thanks go to Denis Cornet, known internationally for his sensitivity and for the meticulous care with which he stages his spaces. He designed the exhibition’s setting: his direction brings out the best in Morena, welcomes Davide Cristofaro’s art and creates a harmonious dialogue between the canvas and the elegant atmosphere of the Parisian gallery.
