From 10 to 23 June 2016 Stockholm hosts “In the Depth of Colours”, an international group exhibition organised by Interartex International Exhibitions under the direction of its CEO, Riccardo Baldelli. The show brings together artists from different backgrounds and sets contemporary research beside the works of a great twentieth-century master: Salvador Dalí, a leading figure of Surrealism.
The exhibition brings distant creative sensibilities face to face: it places side by side artistic languages, experimentation with materials and visions able to cross geographical and cultural borders.

Gamla Stan: a historic setting for international art
The exhibition is held at the Galleri T, at 3 Österlånggatan, in the heart of Gamla Stan, Stockholm’s medieval centre. Among characteristic lanes and old buildings, the gallery welcomes visitors for the two weeks of the show. The opening party is on Saturday 11 June at 6 pm.

The title “In the Depth of Colours” suggests a reflection on the expressive depth of art and on the power of works to evoke emotions through forms, materials and symbols. The presence of Dalí draws attention to imagination and to the evocative force of the image, along a route that sets the legacy of the great masters in dialogue with the voices of today.
Davide Cristofaro and Dark Heart
Among the participants is Davide Cristofaro, an Italian artist from Putignano, in Apulia, whose work spans painting, decoration and the dialogue between art, fashion and design.
For this occasion Davide presents Dark Heart, a 2015 quadriptych in mixed media on canvas: four canvases of 24×24 cm.
The piece stands out for the complexity of its technique and for a visual enquiry in which geometry, material and light come together in a harmonious whole. The metallic weave, dense and minutely worked, draws the heart in grey and silver reflections, in contrast with the heavy texture of the grounds, which range from bronze to gold.
The four panels, enhanced by worked gilded frames, reinterpret the motif of the heart in a personal decorative language. The precision of the drawing matches the depth of the surfaces, and the colour combinations give the work strength and intensity.
In Dark Heart the heart becomes the meeting point between geometric structure and a taste for ornament. The composition reveals the artist’s interest in the repetition of the mark, the rhythmic construction of the surface and the capacity of material to turn a recognisable subject into a complex visual experience.
In the gallery the four canvases stand in a row on a white plinth, next to the artist’s cards.

The exhibition catalogue gives the work a full page.

An international exhibition experience
Davide’s participation in “In the Depth of Colours” is attested by the Certificate of Participation, issued by the management of Interartex International Exhibitions.

Stockholm is a stage in the artist’s journey abroad and in his encounter with different cultural contexts: an experience in which personal research meets a plurality of visions, in a show that links today’s art with significant references from art history.
Through works such as Dark Heart, Cristofaro develops a style in which painterly sensitivity, compositional rigour and decorative richness live in balance. Attention to detail and care for the surface become the hallmarks of a body of work that ranges across several creative fields.
