The creative process

Every artwork passes through distinct phases before reaching its final form. Here are some images from the journey.

The pencil drawing on the canvas: the seated figure holding the Earth
The relief ground laid around the figure
The fiery sky with the comet, the figure and the flower crown already in colour
The first blue wave rises on the right
The two waves and the rock on which the figure sits
The waves grow deeper, foam at the foot of the rock
White foam wraps the rock, with the turquoise glints of the sea
The finished, signed work: Mother Earth between the waves and the fiery sky
