twelve years later, as a company

Milano Unica 2019: twelve years later, as a company

Milano Unica is the Italian fair of fabrics and accessories for clothing. Davide walked in for the first time in 2007.

Since then, the search for the right companies has never stopped. It began before the brand itself, which Davide founded in 2015 with his brother Giuseppe, and it carried on afterwards: meetings, first productions, trade fairs to find new ones.

From 5 to 7 February 2019, for the twenty-eighth edition, Davide returned to the halls of Fiera Milano in Rho with Giuseppe.

Back home, Davide told the story of those days on Instagram, one post after another from 12 to 19 February.

“It has been twelve years since my first time at the Milano Unica Fair, I was a student visiting with the academic class. This year I introduced myself as a company, an excitement ‘Unique’ as the fair”

The fair was already looking ahead to spring-summer 2020. The Trend Area took music as its theme, with three creative paths: “2050 Bon Bon Jazz”, “2070 Funky Tabbouleh” and “2080 Cous Cous Rap”.

Japan was there too, with the Japan Observatory and its fabrics: its party in the evening and, as a gift, two little lucky charms.

Moving from hall to hall, Davide’s eye was also drawn to the architecture of the fair and its great glass and steel roof.

“I seek inspiration in architecture, art, film, theatre, music, people, world, life”

Among the stands, Davide and Giuseppe presented their work to the companies. Some were struck by it, and those meetings led to new collaborations: printing houses in Como, makers of fabrics and accessories.

The maison’s silks have always been printed in Como, but the printing houses changed several times. The problem was almost always the same: the design came out well on the front, while on the back the colour stayed faded, barely visible. Davide and Giuseppe never settled for that and kept on searching. Perhaps the answer would come a few years later…
